Handbooks and packaging

In the ever-evolving realm of IT security appliances, Fortinet Technologies stands out as a formidable force, securing its position as the fourth-largest vendor. My role within the company played a pivotal role in its success, with a focus on the meticulous design of handbooks and packaging for the shipment of over 3,400,000 Fortinet network security hardware units.

Our clientele is diverse, comprising more than 330,000 corporate customers. Notable among them are Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Intel, Oracle, NASDAQ OMX, Dell SecureWorks, Yahoo! Japan, Telefonica, Panasonic, and many others. My contribution to crafting informative handbooks and packaging played a crucial part in solidifying this commitment.

My role at Fortinet

User interface/Graphic Designer 3

My design process involves submitting Fortinet booklet prints to Agile Administration for any necessary changes, documenting QA verification records on product models, and indicating the need for new prints when the print stock is depleted. Once QA confirms the accuracy of the interface information, I deliver print-ready files for production release.

Feedback and design approvals are sought from various stakeholders, including Technical Document Writers, QA, Hardware/Software Product Managers, and the VP of Product Management. To ensure seamless coordination, design assignments are meticulously tracked and assigned through the Fortinet Product Management Database (PMDB) web portal.

The FortiGate Cookbook

The FortiGate are network firewall devices. I designed the FortiGate Cookbook on "recipes" of basic and advanced FortiGate configurations for administrators who are unfamiliar with the unit. The decision to craft a book cover featuring a FortiGate device resembling a cake, sliced to reveal its intricate layers, serves as a metaphor for breaking down the complexities of network firewall configurations into digestible and visually appealing "recipes."

For hardware units

Designed for Fortinet's hardware unit range, spanning 1U, 2U, 3U mid-range, and high-end devices. In the realm of network security, a "U" is a rack unit measurement of the height of the hardware that's designed to fit into a standard rack.

I aimed to make these cookbooks not just informative documents but visually engaging resources that enhance the user experience and promote a deeper understanding of Fortinet's hardware units.
